About Me
About me
I’m Patricia Barranca, a duel board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. I created Phoenix Psychiatry and Wellness from a simple belief: people deserve thoughtful, compassionate care that sees the whole person, not just a diagnosis or a medication list. Over the years, I’ve cared for patients across the lifespan in both medical and psychiatric settings, including working closely with older adults, caregivers, and families who are juggling complex health and emotional needs. Those experiences shaped my commitment to providing clear, down-to-earth, and genuinely supportive mental health care.
I don’t come to this work only as a clinician, but also as someone who has personally navigated mental health challenges and life transitions. I know what it’s like to lie awake with a racing mind, to feel overwhelmed by expectations, and to wonder if anyone truly understands what you’re carrying. Those seasons of anxiety, low mood, and burnout have changed the way I practice. They’ve made me more patient, more curious, and more determined to create a space where you never feel rushed, judged, or dismissed.
In my practice, I blend traditional psychiatry with an integrative approach that honors both science and the realities of everyday life. That might mean carefully chosen medication, support for sleep and lifestyle, mind–body strategies, or small, realistic steps that fit your world not an idealized version of it. My goal is to walk alongside you with honesty, kindness, and practical tools, so you can feel more like yourself again and move toward a life that feels calmer, clearer, and truly your own.
